Salone del Mobile: the new design trends

Talking about Interior Design, we have absolutely to mention the topic "Salone del Mobile", the international design event that was held last week in Milan.

There is no doubt that Salone del Mobile is the high-point for the entire furniture and design sector. For my habit, I always leave some time pass before talking about a specific topic, because, also collecting the customers’ feelings, I can catch more complete impressions and inspirations.

The Salone del Mobile is very wide and increasingly international. This year, however, in my opinion and many others, the companies have not presented innovative concepts. At EuroCucina and FTK-Technology For the Kitchen, long-awaited appointments of the 2018 edition, the companies remain anchored to tradition, apart few spectacular demotic exploits, not practical in their daily functionality.

The design situation at the Salone del Bagno is much better, where the brands showed the newfound propensity to use marble, a prestigious material that conquers the leading role in the most luxurious bathrooms.

There is one aspect, however, that struck me a lot: the exponential growth of foreign companies that offer their furnishing solutions.

From Japan, from China, from Portugal: a real invasion! And the Made in Italy? Where will it end? A question we must ask ourselves and which involves careful reflection.

The design proposals at the Milan fair were more stylistic than the contents. Let's say that, in my opinion, many companies are in a reflection period. Surely the general appreciation goes on the seats, on the sofas and on the total look that dresses the whole house. But we'll talk about it again...
